The Scheinbergs, an Israeli family from TA, who only just moved the company’s businesses to the Isle of Man, are thought to have chosen NM Rothschild, the City merchant bank, to sell their operation, PokerStars, at a price of $2 billion.
PokerStars is the second-biggest online poker company after Party-Gaming, which manages PartyPoker.com website, the largest poker site on the Web, whose four owners gained more than £1 billion last summer after floating it their online poker site on the London Stock Exchange with an estimated value of more than 37 billion USD.
The creator of PokerStars, Ishai Scheinberg, has more conservative conditions as an internet industrialist, having employed as a senior programmer by IBM, the famous computer group located in the US. It is said that the Scheinberg family own 75% of PokerStars Company. The workers own the other 25%. Some City (SM) analysts consider the sale of PokerStars as a major turn over in the online gambling industry and they believe that this sell would also be a magnet for traditional gambling companies from the US that are on the lookout for such sales.
